Great Resources..
At GREAT we update our resources constantly so that we stay at the cutting edge of Education technology.We have a computer suite of 17 PCs all with headphones, cameras and computer drawing pads and pens. Each PC is networked and has internet access. In addition we have a plasma screen, 2 interactive whiteboards and 15 Apple Macbooks which are the latest in Apple Macintosh design and are particularly useful for graphic design, photography and music projects.
We have lots of great software too to make learning fun. For the time that the children are here, they get free passes to the learning website Education City which they can then access at home, at school or anywhere there is a computer with internet access. Education City is a great resource and allows children to work through a large variety of literacy and numeracy games at their own speed.
However, our best resource is our staff. Our centre manager is a teacher with 20 years experience who is also Study Support Coordinator for the county. All our sessions are led by an experienced teacher who is supported by a strong team of trained and experienced volunteers called Study Coaches. We also have Peer Study Coaches who are trained young people who are experts in helping other younger children.
